The University of Central Florida Department of Music initiated a project to create the online hub for the university concert and athletic bands: Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Marching Knights, and Jammin’ Knights. The site’s most notable feature is the Armory, a private central hub for the Marching Knights’ 300+ members, where they can get all the information and digital materials they need: Sheet music, drill, schedules, handbooks/forms, and more.
Although thoroughly modified from the base layout, the theme still inherits all of the SEO, security, and customization features of the Genesis Framework. In addition to the features mentioned, the site also allows the program’s band directors and media coordinators to create, manage, and modify:
- Modular “blocks” on pages – displayed in a masonry grid (Example)
- Both public and private schedules
- Events, which integrate with schedules, locations, and concert programs
- Rehearsal schedules
- Band-specific announcements
- Department faculty and staff
- Prospective & returning student forms
- Photo and video galleries (powered by Envira Gallery)
- Custom “section” headers that apply to all child pages and contain director/conductor information
- WordPress
- Custom Genesis child theme
- Sheet music distribution system
- Tailored event management with integrated concert programs and schedules
- Masonry layout integration
- Custom post types for Announcements, Events, Locations, Schedules, Rehearsals, Staff, and Sheet Music
